Phil Aubin

Data Team Assistant Lead & Senior Business Analytics Consultant

“When I joined The Summit, I had already worked with everyone on the team and knew them to be the best of the best. It was a privilege to then work as a team and learn from each other. With a powerful combination of a dynamic motivated team and a strong vision for the future, I knew The Summit would go from strength to strength and wanted to be part of that journey.”

Skilled in cloud data engineering and data analytics, with many years spent as a business intelligence consultant, Phil brings the benefit of a strong technical background teamed with excellent client communication skills to help companies drive their data solutions forwards and capitalise on their most valuable asset, data.

“My passion is knowledge, and I strive to continuously learn and improve. There is nothing I enjoy more than throwing myself at any complex issue and becoming an expert in that area, in fact there’s nothing I say no to. My academic background has trained me to learn and assimilate knowledge quickly and efficiently, and I feel my personality really gels with the work hard, play hard mentality of our team. It’s a pleasure to work with such like minded individuals.”

Phil’s expertise spans a wide range of technologies, including Power BI, SQL, DAX, Azure DB, SSIS, Azure Logic Apps and Azure Data Factory, and has been involved in delivering successful projects for industries from international banking and fund management to patent firms and Government and utility companies.

“I particularly enjoy those projects that rely heavily on the use of Microsoft Azure. Azure is an amazing collection of tools that allow you to design, develop and deliver powerful solutions for clients. It is also an ever-changing and ever-improving solution, meaning there is always a lot to learn, something I also enjoy!”

Something that excites Phil is the rapid growth in scalable cloud data warehousing and the incredible power and savings it can offer clients in terms of both capital and operational expenditure. Through delivering cloud solutions for a range of projects, Phil has gained a deep understanding of cloud-based data solutions on Microsoft Azure and looks forward to bringing this powerful knowledge to many more businesses in the future.

Phil trained as an archaeologist, and in his free time, enjoys research projects of his own. He has co-authored a number of articles for The Société Jersiaise’s Annual Bulletin and presented his research at the Prehistoric Society of Britain’s annual conference. Sporting interests include shooting, where he competes as an air rifle shooter and .22 shooter in local leagues, and he hopes to compete for Jersey in the future.

“When I’m not in the office, you’ll probably find me shooting training in the winter and on the beach in the summer. I also love travelling, particularly exploring the US and its national parks, so if I’m not in Jersey, that’s a good bet for where I will be!”
