Building the Growth Platform for a PE-Backed Care Group

How a strategic partnership with The Summit helped an international care home group transform its operations, financial controls, and scalability through a suite of enterprise-grade technology initiatives.
Background
A Complex, Growing Organisation That Had Outgrown Its Systems
LV Care Group is a well-established care home group operating multiple facilities internationally, providing a range of residential and specialist care services. As part of a private equity portfolio, the group was not only expected to run with operational precision, it was expected to grow.
LV Care Group needed technology that matched the scale and ambition of their operation. The Summit delivered exactly that, bringing enterprise-grade solutions and the commercial acumen to make them work for a serious, growing business.
The Challenge
Fragmentation, Manual Effort, and the Ambition to Scale
Across finance, operations, and reporting, the group was carrying significant inefficiency. Key financial data was spread across disconnected systems, making consolidated reporting a manual, time-intensive exercise, one that absorbed the attention of senior leadership, including the CEO, on a regular basis.
Resident billing was inconsistent. Rate management lacked centralised control, creating the conditions for errors in income recognition and downstream bookkeeping problems. Onboarding new residents was a fragmented process with no standardised workflow. And for their parent company, getting a reliable read on portfolio performance meant chasing spreadsheets rather than pulling live data.
Perhaps most critically: the business was planning to grow. Without solid operational foundations, integrating new homes would mean amplifying all of these problems at scale.
"What we needed was a partner with real financial acumen who could grasp the complexity of our business quickly and actually deliver. The Summit did exactly that."
Nick Bettany, CEO, LV Care Group
Why The Summit
Commercial Thinking First. Technology Second.
Technology projects in complex, regulated industries do not fail because of bad code. They fail because the people delivering them do not truly understand the business they are working in.
LV Care Group needed more than a development partner. They needed a team that could sit across the table from a financially rigorous CEO, speak his language, and translate the unique complexity of an international care operation into elegant, practical technology. That takes a rare combination of financial acumen, commercial thinking, and the vision to see beyond isolated fixes towards a coherent platform.
At The Summit, we approach every brief commercially first, technically second. We ask what the business needs to grow, what is creating friction, and what needs to be true operationally before we write a single line of code. That mindset is what allowed us to earn Nick's trust, keep pace with his financial rigour, and deliver a platform that does not just work, it reflects how the business actually operates.
The result is not a collection of standalone tools. It is a foundation built for an international care group with ambition.
"We approach every engagement commercially first, technically second. The technology is the output, understanding the business is the work."
Ben Symonds, CEO, The Summit
What We Delivered
Four Initiatives. One Coherent Platform.
Rather than isolated quick fixes, our partnership was structured around a suite of interconnected, enterprise-grade initiatives that collectively form the operational platform for a modern, scalable care group.
Initiative 01- Real-Time Automated Operational Reporting
We consolidated multiple disparate systems and data sources into a unified data model, then built a comprehensive suite of performance dashboards covering both financial and operational KPIs. Leadership can now see the full picture across all sites, in real time, without manual aggregation. Anomalies, data quality issues, and performance trends that were previously invisible are now immediately visible.
Initiative 02 - Live Data Feed to Parent Company
As a portfolio asset within a larger PE group, the business is accountable to group-level reporting requirements. We built and exposed a secure, structured API that feeds live financial and operational data directly to the parent company. Group oversight is now seamless, accurate, and real-time, no manual exports, no delays, no data loss in translation.
Initiative 03 - Resident Billing & Commercial Control
This is the centrepiece of the transformation. We built a purpose-built operational application that now runs the entire commercial side of resident management. Rate setting and controls are centralised. The billing cycle is fully automated from those rates. Resident onboarding follows a structured, automated workflow from day one. The app enforces consistency across all homes, eliminates the conditions for billing errors, and ensures that revenue recognition and bookkeeping are precise, auditable, and reliable.
Initiative 04 - Staff Rate Management & Payroll Automation
Building on the commercial control foundations already in place, this initiative brings the same precision to staff costs. Timesheet data feeds into a centralised rate management system within the platform, which then generates clean, accurate exports for the payroll platform. The result is consistent, controlled, and automated, removing manual effort and ensuring staff are paid correctly based on the right rates, every time.
The Outcomes
Control, Clarity, and a Platform Built to Scale
The impact spans operations, finance, and strategic capability. Together, these initiatives have fundamentally changed what the leadership team can see, trust, and act on.
Full Financial Visibility
Granular, accurate revenue recognition and bookkeeping across all sites, with anomalies surfaced automatically.
Automated Operations
Billing, resident onboarding, and reporting run on automated workflows, consistent, precise, and without manual intervention.
Centralised Control
A single platform governs rate setting and commercial operations across all homes, eliminating inconsistency at source.
Error Detection
Problems that were previously invisible, bad data, anomalies, inconsistencies, are now surfaced before they become costly.
Seamless Group Reporting
The parent company receives live, structured performance data via API, no chasing, no manual exports.
Built to Scale
Standardised, automated systems mean new homes can be integrated without rebuilding processes from scratch.
"The granularity we now have across revenue recognition and bookkeeping is transformative. We can see financial performance at a level of detail we simply couldn't see before."
Nick Bettany, CEO, LV Care Group
The Bigger Picture
Platform for Growth, Not Just Efficiency
The real measure of this work isn't just what runs better today, it's what it enables tomorrow. Scaling an international care group requires an operational platform that can absorb new homes without multiplying complexity. What the partnership has built is exactly that.
Centralised controls, automated processes, and clean data mean that bringing on a new home doesn't mean re-inventing the wheel. The systems are already there. The standards are already set. The reporting is already in place. That's the difference between growth being an opportunity and growth being a risk.
With the core platform now in place, unified reporting, commercial operations centralised, and group-level data flowing cleanly to the parent company, the group has solid ground beneath its feet to grow with confidence.
"We're building an international care group and we needed foundations that could support that growth. The Summit has given us exactly that, centralised systems, consistent controls, and reliable numbers. Solid foundations are an investment in our ability to scale."
Nick Bettany, CEO, LV Care Group
